Thanks for listening to the Telling the Tooth Podcast! Our special guest in this episode is Dr. Massimiliano Di Giosia who talks to us about the diagnosis, treatment, and controversies surrounding sleep apnea.

Dr. Massimiliano Di Giosia is a graduate of the School of Dentistry in Chieti, Italy. He completed a residency program in Orofacial Pain at the University of Kentucky in 2007 directed by Dr. Jeffrey Okeson and an Orthodontic residency program at the University of Cagliari, Italy, in 2011. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, a certified “expert dentist” by the European Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and a fellow of the American Headache Society. Dr. Di Giosia was appointed assistant professor at UNC in June 2015. He is responsible for clinical activities in orofacial pain, TMD, and dental sleep medicine. He focuses on clinical research as well as teaching and supervising the residents of the school’s orofacial pain residency program. He has published several articles and book chapters in the field of orofacial and dental sleep medicine. He is co-editor of the textbook “Dental Management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. A Practical Manual.”
