What is Non Medical Disability

The inability to have a sustainable income because of a disability can leave you and your family in financial woes. To make matters worse, you may be unable to work to earn the income that supported you and dependents’ basic needs. That is where the Social Security Administration (SSA) steps in with their disability benefits programs. If you’re able to prove that you qualify for one of their programs, you’ll get access to financial help, which can make life a lot easier.

Currently, there’s a lot of information available about social security benefits, but some of it can be misleading. For instance, many applicants might not get the right information about what is non medical disability and how it affects their benefits.

Here at National Disability Benefits, we have helped thousands of people make successful applications, and we continue to do so.

Are you curious to know if you qualify for Social Security Disability benefits? If eligible, you could get up to $2,788 a month and get the financial compensation you need.

Non-Medical Disability

You can apply for disability benefits when a physical or mental health condition has made it impossible for you to earn a monthly income of over $1,220. However, your health is not the only thing used to determine the benefits you deserve.

Your non-medical disability information is reviewed hand in hand with your state of health. The information includes your earnings record, work history, and age. Your contributions towards the Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax is also part of this criteria.

How Can You Prove a Non-Medical Disability to the SSA?

For the SSA to get a clear picture of the non-medical conditions that affect your eligibility for social security benefits, you will be required to present the following:

  • Your birth certificate, which helps the Administration to determine your age and how long you have been working.
  • Marriage certificate, if you have. Your spouse’s income affects your benefits. Additionally, this certificate enables the SSA to decide on the benefits that are due to your spouse.
  • You’ll also need to provide evidence that shows your employment history. You can get your present and past employers to provide that information.

National Disability Benefits seeks to ensure that people filing their claims meet all of the SSA’s requirements. Many applications are denied not because of ineligibility but because of minor errors during the application process. By providing all the required information, you can avoid unnecessary rejection.

What are the Non-Medical Requirements for Disability Benefits?

Many times, disability benefits are denied not because one doesn’t have a disabling health condition, but because the applicant does not meet the non-medical requirements. To qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you need to earn less than $771 monthly. For a couple, the income limit is $1,157. You should also be at least 65 years old.

For SSDI, you need to have an earnings record, contributions to social security taxes, and be unable to earn more than $1,220 monthly. For the blind, the income limit is $2,040 per month.
