We have multiple options to sedate a child for dental treatment. The type of sedation depends upon the treatment required and the child’s behavior during the treatment. <\/p>\n
In this particular case, we have used an intravenous (IV) sedation as the child was non-cooperative, irritated, and required cavity treatment in all four quadrants of the mouth. Cavity treatment was followed by preventive dentistry (fluoride varnish application) to minimize the probability of reoccurring cavities. <\/p>\n
An anesthetist managed the sedation dose and monitored the vitals throughout the treatment and until the child woke up. This collaborative approach resulted in a successful pain-free, no-tear full mouth rehabilitation.
