Dental Practice Term Loans – Call 904-551-6090: Dental management of patients with Hemophilia – Dr. Aniruddha KB

Primarily what happens is dentist will ask for a blood report, a blood parameter when there is a history of hemophilia or a history of any sort of blood disorder. Generally it is mandatory before any kind of surgical procedure that we have a proper blood report for the patient for assessment and diagnosis. So depending upon the kind of disorder and the severity of the disease, there will be multiple visits in treating patients with hemophilia. We try to avoid certain kind of drugs like aspirin so that the clotting is not affected. There are different kind of hemophilia that is involved. So the severity varies depending upon the kind of hemophilia and also in case of surgery we try to use a different kind of material or for suturing we use a different kind of material or we may also have to use plasma derivatives for patients or we may also have to provide cryoprecipitate. However it is very patient centric. We try to manage according to the severity of the case. According to the kind of surgery that would involve, we would try and assess whether it would require an OT set up or it would require clinical setup for treatment. Depending on that the treatment is assessed only after the initial diagnosis.
