Not sure how to negotiate salary? It’s normal to feel nervous, but negotiating your compensation package is worth the effort. An increase in benefits or salary could positively impact your earning potential over the course of your career.
In this video, we analyze the salary negotiation process from start to finish, providing key tips at each stage. You’ll learn strategies for developing your target range, communicating pay expectations and demonstrating your value to a possible employer. Remember, negotiation is just a conversation between two people, so don’t hesitate to voice your goals!
Here are some key takeaways:
1. Do your homework! Know the lowest, average, and highest salary ranges for your position and remember to keep variables like location, experience, education and certifications in mind. Start your research with our free salary search tool: https://www.indeed.com/salaries
2. Remember that salary negotiation is a conversation about give and take. Ask for slightly more than your goal—employers will probably lean towards the lower end of your range—so be sure that number is something you’re comfortable accepting.
3. Be ready to give good reasons for why you’re worth what you’re asking for. Share your accomplishments, awards, and relevant experience. Check out these examples on how to negotiate: https://go.indeed.com/how-to-negotiate
4. If they can’t meet the salary you want, see what alternative forms of compensation they can offer, including signing bonuses, vacation time, or medical benefits. Learn more about total compensation: https://go.indeed.com/base-salary-and-benefits
5. Be grateful and flexible through the entire process, no matter the outcome!

Lesson on Shingles (Herpes Zoster): Pathophysiology, Risk Factors, Phases of Infection, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention. Shingles is a very painful skin condition that results from the reactivation of the varicella zoster virus, the herpesvirus responsible for Chickenpox. This virus can reactive due to several reasons, including immunosuppression. Shingles is classically described as a painful eruption of groups of vesicles on an erythematous base. It occurs in three different phases, which we discuss in this lesson. Diagnosis of shingles can occur by a few methods, including viral swab for viral DNA. Treatment of shingles depends on the timing of the infection, and prevention of shingles involves the use of vaccinations, which we also discuss in this lesson.
